Apparently its plum season, judging by the amazing tree in my new backyard! Look at those gorgeous things! Yup, this is why you all will be receiving plum jam, plum pies, prunes, and plum wine for every birthday, every Christmas, and every other gift-giving-worthy holiday in the coming year!

Susan, have you heard of Forage Oakland? It's a group in Oakland that does backyard fruit exchanges. People also donate their backyard fruit to food pantries through the program. Think about signing up! Here's a nytimes article about them: http://twurl.nl/jekcyr and here's their blog site: http://twurl.nl/6aojyy
I wrote an article about these kinds of fruit bartering programs. I think it's a great idea! How many plums can one person really eat, right? :) and who knows, maybe you'll get some other free fruit in exchange and not have to buy fruit ever again!
I LOVE YOUR HOUSE!!!! Can't wait to come visit!
That is so GREAT!

Thanks, Jeannie! I'll look it up right now! What a great idea! Just yesterday I decided to donate all the food from my SF home to a local food pantry before moving! Why take it with me, right?
